Student risks 3-year-jail term for stealing Okada rider’s wallet

    Isiaku David may spend the next three years in
    prison if convicted as accused of the theft of a
    commercial motorcyclist’s wallet.
    A 20-year-old student, Isiaku David, has been dragged
    before a Grade 1 Area Court in Aso Pada, Nasarawa State,
    for allegedly stealing a wallet.
    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the
    accused, a resident of Mararaba, was arraigned on a one
    count charge of theft.
    The prosecutor, Cpl. Friday Adaji, David allegedly stole
    the wallet of one one Vinige John, a commercial
    motorcyclist, who carried him from Tudun Wada Baushe
    to Tudun Wada.
    The accused committed the crime while they were in
    “While on transit, David stole the complainant’s wallet,
    containing N7, 500. 00 and his driver’s license from his
    side jacket pocket.” Adaji told the court.
    The prosecutor said David’s offence contravenes Section
    287 of the Criminal Penal Code.
    Student Pulse gathered that the accused faces up to a
    three-year-sentence if found guilty.
    The accused pleaded non-guilty and was granted bail in
    the sum of N100, 000 and one surety in like sum.
    The judge, Mr Albert Maga, adjourned further hearing till
    January 12 2014
